Pre-Conference Workshops

All pre-conference workshops are open to Annual Meeting delegates only.

The 2019 pre-conference workshops are designed to provide participants with interactive experiences that encourage creative problem solving. Hands-on learning opportunities will enhance your professional growth, provide an opportunity to network with recognized experts and build valuable skills you can immediately apply in your practice.

The 2019 pre-conference workshops will take place on Friday, June 21 and are listed below.

*New this Year* You asked and we listened! There are two half-day workshops available focusing on physician wellness – “Turning Burnout into Joy” and “Achieving Well-Being Throughout and at End of Practice”. Fees are $350 per session or register for both at the combined price of $650/participant.

Friday, June 21

8:00 – 17:00 
Advanced: Perioperative, Hands-on Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS)
Pre-Conference Workshop

This one day hands-on course will focus on advanced applications of POCUS in perioperative medicine. These will include advanced application of cardiac,  and lung US, FAST, Trans-cranial Doppler, Optic nerve sheath diameter and Deep Venous thrombosis assessment.

Pre-requisite: Familiarity with basic POCUS skills is required, previous attendance of the CAS POCUS Basic Course highly recommended.

Basic: Perioperative, Hands-on Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS)
Pre-Conference Workshop

This one day course is targeted to introduce any anesthesiologist to the practice of perioperative point of care ultrasound. These will include relevant application of: cardiac, lung, gastric and airway Ultrasound.

Turning Burnout into Joy
Pre-Conference Workshop

Stress is inherent in medicine and can lead to burnout. This course is designed to assist physicians in learning how to recognize the symptoms of burnout, and prevent burnout in themselves and their colleagues.

Achieving Well-Being Throughout and at End of Practice
Pre-Conference Workshop

By identifying the core values, skills and strengths we have, we can better understand what we enjoy and how to best modify our current work responsibilities so we can continue to enjoy our careers. In this course, we will identify personal, peer, and organizational resources, and discuss how to create an action plan for positive change.
