What to Expect this Year

Problem-based learning discussions (PBLDs)

Following the popularity of last year’s PBLDs, the Annual Meeting Team has responded to demand, and added several more PBLDs. We expect the sessions to sell out quickly – so watch this website for details.

Angela Enright Lecture Luncheon

A great way to send off the meeting and cap the 75th Anniversary celebrations. This year, the Lecture is combined with the CAS Awards Ceremony, and will also feature a beautiful sit-down lunch.

2nd Simulation Event for residents

This competition is going strong! We’re expecting more participants, and more excitement! This year’s event will be streamed into two English sessions and one French session – get in on the fun!

Pre-conference workshops

POCUS event: In response to feedback we now have a basic and advanced track to meet participants’ specific learning needs.

We are also bringing back the Negotiating and Conflict Management for Anesthesiologists workshop.

Pre-conference workshop details

"The CAS Annual Meeting is one of the best kept secrets on the anesthesia conference circuit"- Dr Duane Funk, Chair of the CAS Critical Care Section
“It gave me the basic of the problem and how to approach it in safe way. It is a great opportunity to learn about the problem and solve it at the same time”- 2017 Delegate on PBLDs
“I walked away from the AM reassured with my own anesthetic practice and gaining strategies for improving patient safety with respect to perioperative medicine and chronic pain management"- 2017 Delegate
"I will now review echo reports more critically and have learned several techniques for airway management, especially the usefulness of laryngoscopy as an aid to proper placement of a SGA”- 2017 Delegate
"There are so many cultural idiosyncrasies in anesthetic practice-even from hospital to hospital in one city. It is always valuable to hear different approaches in order to enhance the possibilities of care for unique patients"- Dr George Mashour, 2018 Presenter
"I look forward to learning about innovation in our field, not only during the comprehensive conference sessions, but also in informal conversations with speakers during coffee breaks and social events"- Dr Matteo Parotto, 2018 Presenter
"There is so much to learn from each other. International relationships bring fresh looks to our daily work and it is important to hear how other healthcare systems work"- Dr Carolyn Weiniger, 2018 Presenter
"The Annual Meeting is a once a year opportunity to find out how our specialty is doing/progressing across the country—academically, politically and socially"- Dr Doreen Yee, Chair CARF
