The Welcome Reception launches the annual meeting and kick-starts your Friday evening with local entertainment that showcases the character and heritage of the host city and sets the stage for the coming days of learning and networking. The President’s Dinner is an excellent opportunity to meet and share with professionals in the field of anesthesiology from across Canada and the world. It is also a time to celebrate and raise your glass in recognition of our 75 year history!
This year will feature entertainment by the Painchaud Family. This high energy group will provide us with their very creative versions of popular songs, laced with impressive musical skill, virtuoso performances and a little good hearted family rivalry. For over 15 years, the award winning Painchaud Family has been entertaining groups large and small in public forums and at private gatherings with rave reviews.

Located within easy walking distance, the CAS IEF Dinner will be at Auberge Saint-Gabriel. Built in 1688, this location has witnessed the history of our nation and has now been transformed into a fine dining establishment renowned for its Quebec cuisine.
Speaker: Dr Dan Poenaru – Centre for Global Surgery, McGill University Health Centre.
Dr. Poenaru is the recipient of the 2014 Teasdale-Corti Humanitarian Award of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the 2015 ACS/Pfizer Surgical Humanitarianism Award of the American College of Surgeons. His areas of interest are global burden of surgical disease, chronic pediatric surgical disabilities in Africa, faith issues in clinical practice and global surgical education.
